The electric soldering iron is 100 years old!

There have been more and more electronic devices in residential and industrial environments every day, to control the climate, communications, heating and electrical equipment. These days, the soldering iron at the construction site has become one of the necessary tools, because the most reliable electrical coupling is soldering.

Not everyone knows that July 8, 1921 can be considered the Birthday of soldering iron, when German engineer and inventor Ernst Sachs patented his invention, namely the first electric soldering iron.

The first electric soldering iron was of the hammer type and was intended for soldering a wide range of products. The novelty of the invention was that electric current was used for heating for the first time in history.

 

After obtaining the patent, Ernst Sachs registered his business in Berlin on November 18, 1921, and named it after the first letters of his name ERSA. The company still exists today and has carried this name for 100 years!

ERSA is now working to further improve its soldering systems and equipment to meet today's Industry 4.0 Standards.
