KAZBUILD – INTERNATIONAL TECHNOLOGY AND KNOWLEDGE HUB IN HOUSE BUILDING

For 26 straight years, KazBuild brings together business partners in construction industry, helps manufacturers expand their markets, and provides an extensive range of products to distributors.

The 2019 event featured 272 companies from 22 countries, over 320 domestic and global brands including the newest construction materials, equipment and tools, finish materials, ceramics, window technologies, design and interior products.

Germany, Poland, Turkey (for the first time ever), and India brought their national expositions. Russia had quite a wide presence, with 91 companies from 13 regions.

"It is a great figure for our countries. It demonstrates a stable rate of cooperation and an opportunity to maintain it in the future to meet the sales volume targets as set by the leaders of our countries for this year," said Mikhail Tkachenko, Deputy Sales Representative of Russia in Kazakhstan.

At the exhibition, all eyes were on one of the biggest DIY retailers in the world – Leroy Merlin. For the first time, the company held 53 B2B meetings within 3 days at their stand. They discussed cooperation with Kazakh manufacturers to support domestic producers and dealers. Employees of Leroy Merlin also negotiated with companies from the CIS countries that are focused on expanding their sales geography.

"This is the second time we take part in KazBuild because last year's results were quite satisfactory. Our goal was to make profit and promote our brand – and we did it. This year, we ran out of advertising materials in just a few hours of the first day. So we are planning to book a bigger stand for next year," said Erdos Ashitov, CEO of Konster Engineering.

Makar Kurochkin, owner of Daia Team, said that right now there is no other platform in Kazakhstan that could match KazBuild in size and organization. "This exhibition is an efficient way of informing people about your products, quickly and comprehensively, and also discuss possible cooperation."

Perhaps, the most amazing part of the exhibition was its business program. There were 60 events for architecture, construction, and design professionals: Forum of construction materials and service suppliers, Perspective Design contest for young designers and architects, seminars of KazGor project academy, school for professional designers and architects, design and VR interior lab.

Visitors to the exhibition left very positive reviews: this platform gives them a chance to learn about the latest trends, make professional contacts, and exchange experience with colleagues. "KazBuild is a very interesting exhibition. As an interior designer I learned tons of useful information there. At the moment, I am working at an architecture project so the exhibition helped me with that. I would also like to mention that I really enjoyed its eventful business program. At the conference, my colleagues shared their experience and presented interesting cases," commented Maria Kim, interior designer at Marykimdesign.

Kazakhstan’s major construction company BI Group held two seminars: one about the company’s projects and purchases where all potential suppliers of goods and services could learn about the company’s procurements and the projects they could take part in. The other one had to do with their digital platform for partnership. BI Group experts showed and explained how to work with it, what to focus on, and what it takes to become a successful partner (supplier, contractor).

The contest of young designers and architects Perspective Design saw its inaugural edition. A total of 60 professionals from the industry took part in it. A panel of expert judges determined winners in six categories, each for a different area of design. All winners received special prizes from partners of the contest, and two of them will get a chance to make their projects a reality: Polina Kravtsova and Alexander Kolesnikov will present their B2B Negotiations Space project at KazBuild 2020. The contest was organized in cooperation with the League of Architects and Designers of Kazakhstan.

The second day of the exhibition ushered in the Forum of Construction Materials and Service Suppliers organized by the Union of Construction Workers of Kazakhstan. During the Forum, representatives of construction business in the Almaty Region appointed Kanat Tasbolatovich Kabdiyev, Deputy Director for Legal Issues at the Atameken Chamber of Entrepreneurs in the Almaty Region, director of the branch of the Union of Construction Workers of Kazakhstan for the Almaty Region.

The event was held on the same platform as the exposition of household and industrial equipment for heating, water supply, plumbing, air conditioning, and ventilation Aquatherm Almaty 2019. It was attended by a total of 5,551 people.

Ekaterina Sevushova, Director of the Architecture and Design Division at Mega Center Management: "KazBuild left a very good impression on me. The number of participants and new offers is growing by the year. It means more new ideas. I was most interested in offers from foreign companies. Thanks to the exhibition, I found partners to cooperate with in my line of work."

Liliana Kim, Head of Sales Management at DSP Tsentr LLP: "I attend KazBuild every year to learn about what the market and new companies have to offer. I enjoyed the exhibition: it is well-organized. My goal was to find new customers, so I had talks with companies and, as a result, gathered many contacts. Now we will be studying opportunities for cooperation with them."

Next year, the International Building & Interiors Exhibition KazBuild 2020 will be taking place from September 8 to 10 in Almaty.

The events will be organized by the Kazakh exhibition company Iteca and its international partner ITE Group PLC (UK). Official support comes from the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Akimat of Almaty.
